Bridget Jones’ Diary 3 gets green light

Helen Fielding announced earlier this year that she had begun writing the third installment in her only book series, and now Entertainment Weekly reports that the film adaptation has already been approved by Working Title and Universal Pictures.

Both Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth have already tentatively agreed to be cast in the third film, but it is still uncertain whether Hugh Grant will return.

Fielding hinted that the third book would centre around Bridget having a mid-thirties baby crisis, though she was unsure at the time if the third novel, and its respective film adaptation, would feature the same storyline.

In the meantime, fans of the series have not got long to wait for ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary: The Musical’ to be released in 2012.
