New image from The Muppets!

Last week THE MUPPETS was just another movie on the ‘To Be Released’ shelf; another revival of old material for a quick buck at the box office. And then yesterday, THN was present at the Empire Big Screen, and more importantly, during the live satellite link-up with the… er, frog himself, Kermit. During the interview – alongside director James Bobin – Kermit took questions from the London audience, and showed us that without question after 40 years, the Muppets’ frontman has lost none of his ready wit and charm. They also treated us to quick cameos from Fozzy, Animal, and eveyone’s favourite porcine princess, Miss Piggy.

The biggest revelation from our glimpse of THE MUPPETS was the film’s plot details (we even saw a little scene/musical number!): Walter (a brand new character from the Henson workshop), is the world’s biggest Muppets fan, and after hearing that an oil tycoon plans to buy and flatten their old, iconic theatre, Walter teams with the Muppets to raise the cash the save the theatre. And how might they raise the $10 million they need? by getting back together and putting on one last almighty Muppets show. The scene we saw featured Walter, heading to Kermit’s house with younger brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams); together – and following a quick song from Kermit – they persuade his greeness to reform the Muppets and give it one last shot.

The scene had THN absolutely gagging for the rest of movie, and we’re confident it will be one of 2012’s biggest (and most deserved) hits. Though the release date of next Febraury might seem a long way off, in the meantime why not treat yourself to this brand new image of the movie, courtesy of EW.com.

THE MUPPETS is directed by James Bobin and stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and Mila Kunis. It arrives in theatres 10th February 2012.
