Kimberly Walsh to replace Amanda Holden in Shrek: The Musical

Kimberly Walsh, who you will know from the British pop group Girls Aloud, is set to replace Amanda Holden in the UK production of SHREK: THE MUSICAL from October.

Holden will leave the show, which is now playing at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on October 3rd. She announced yesterday that she is leaving the show to have a baby. Holden, who miscarried earlier this year, revealed that she is to leave the show yesterday.

“When I found out this time that I was pregnant, I burst into tears,” she said.

“I never dreamt it would happen so quickly, so when it did we both decided that we would try not to think about it until I reached the 12-week mark. Now that we have and I know that everything’s fine (you have no idea how many scans I’ve had), I feel like we can really enjoy it.”

It is reported that Walsh was set to take over the role of Princess Fiona in the show later on in December, but will now appear two months earlier.

SHREK also stars Nigel Lindsay as Shrek, Nigel Harman as Lord Farquaad and Richard Blackwood as Donkey.
