Olivia Wilde, Noomi Rapace and Brit Marling are a few looking to co-star with Tom Cruise in Horizons

What was once titled OBLIVION, now HORIZONS, has been in a frenzy, testing lots of young starlets for the sci-fi extravaganza with Tom Cruise.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON LEGACY), has seen Olivia Wilde (TRON LEGACY), Jessica Chastain (THE HELP), Brit Marling (ANOTHER EARTH), Olga Kurylenko (THERE BE DRAGONS) and Naomi Rapace (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) all testing against Tom Cruise.

Here’s the IMDB synopsis:

A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.

Collider is reporting that there are two important female roles in the film; Victoria who is a Cruise’s partner, professional and sexually (someone who will probably die is my guess), and Julia, who he was engaged to before the invasion of Earth. So all the above women have different features and body types so you can assume that not all the above named actresses are testing for the same role.

The film is a very loose adaptation of a graphic novel named Oblivion by Arvid Nelson. The film is written by William Monahan who won the 2006 Oscar for his adaptation of Hong Kong film INFERNAL AFFAIRS, renamed THE DEPARTED. HORIZONS should be heading into production the start of next year after Cruise is finished with ONE SHOT filming this Autumn.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
