Source Code writer to pen Flatliners remake

As if we aren’t seeing the word ‘remake’ enough as it is, Colombia Pictures have declared their plans to modernise Joel Schumacher’s sci-fi yarn FLATLINERS. Comingsoon.net report that the studio has hired SOURCE CODE writer Ben Ripley to script the remake.

The original 1990 film starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, William Baldwin and Julia Roberts as ambitious medical students, who decide to perform a clandestine experiment to see if there is life after death. A test subject will temporarily ‘flatline’ their heart to briefly experience a clinical death. The stakes are raised as each of the students tries to outdo the last and flatline for longer periods of time, soon realising that they haven’t come back from the death experience alone.
