Amy Adams Wanted for the Orphanage Remake

THE ORPHANAGE is one of those foreign horror films snapped up by Hollywood for a remake yet has been languishing in development Hell.

But now word has gotten out that Amy Adams (THE FIGHTER) who is Lois Lane in the MAN OF STEEL Superman at the moment, is wanted as lead for THE ORPHANAGE.

Adams would play, Laura, a woman who takes over an Orphanage which she was housed in as a kid. But history starts to repeat itself when Laura’s son begins playing with an imaginary friend, the same imaginary friend which Laura played with as a child. Coincidence, I don’t think so.

The original was a great film to a point, that could be mistaken for a Guillermo del Toro film, who is actually the producer for the Hollywood remake. Also Mark Pellington (THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES, ARLINGTON ROAD) is still on board to direct.

What do you think about another foreign horror film remake? Hollywood doesn’t have the best track record with the RING, THE GRUDGE and TALE OF TWO SISTERS remakes. Is it a good idea? Does the film even need to be remade for America?

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
