John Malkovich Considering The Villain In Zombie Romance Warm Bodies

Jonathan Levine is really starting to rack up the credentials as an important name is the dramedy sub-genre. He may not have many films  behind his name (THE WACKNESS and 50/50), but with early positive reports for 50/50, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he became a household name very soon.

The director is well under way with pre-production on his newest feature, WARM BODIES, which we have previously reported on here. The film has already collected Rob Corddy (THE DAILY SHOW), Teresa Palmer (I AM NUMBER FOUR), and Nicholas Hoult (X-MEN FIRST CLASS). Now the mad genius himself, John Malkovich, is circling the project.

Malkovich has been seen in a number of Hollywood blockbuster roles recently, including RED and TRANSFORMERS 3, with this film set to be just as tongue-in-cheek. The story is loosely based on Romeo & Juliet, but with zombies. Hoult would play the Romeo character (but an undead version), who begins a romantic affair with the still breathing, Juliet character, played by Palmer. Malkovich is looking at the role of General Grigio, described as, ‘obsessed with the destruction of the zombie threat’.

The film is adapted from the novel of the same name, by Isaac Marion.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
