Colin Firth To Star In The Railway Man

He is without a doubt the man of the moment. Firth has already starred in arguably the most successful film of the year, THE KING’S SPEECH, and is also in the spotlight again as TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY (where he stars opposite many of Britain’s acting elite) is released in the UK next week. Now, THR are reporting that the prolific actor will star in the upcoming adaptation of the non-fiction novel THE RAILWAY MAN. The film will tell the dramatic story of Eric Lomax, who having been imprisoned and tortured by the Japanese in World War II, eventually makes peace with one of the perpetrators.

Frank Cottrell Boyce (24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE) and Andy Paterson will co-write the script, and Jonathan Teplitzky (GETTIN’ SQUARE) will direct. Lionsgate International are currently upselling the project to buyers at the Toronto Film Festival.

Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.
