A Lonely Place To Die Director To Shoot ‘Offworld’

Julian Gilbey’s nail-biting thriller A LONELY PLACE TO DIE (currently in cinemas now and is most definitely worth a look) looks as if it could be the stepping stone to the glitz and glamour world of Hollywood. After impressing producer Lloyd Levin, who himself called the British director’s latest effort ‘a movie after my own heart’, Gilbey has signed on the helm OFFWORLD.

When talking to Empire about the science-fiction project, Levin says  ‘It’s a kind of an intergalactic NAKED PREY, a pedal-to-the-metal safari movie set on an alien planet. There’s lots of nasty creatures – some even on the good guys’ side’.

Sounds interesting and after seeing his latest thriller starring Melissa George (THE AMITYVILLE HORROR) and Sean Harris (RED RIDING TRILOGY), I certainly have faith that Gilbey (RISE OF THE FOOTSOLDIER) will make the transition appear seamless alongside the latest crop fellow Brit directors Duncan Jones (SOURCE CODE) and Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES). There is no word on casting news or release dates.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
