The trailer for Alliance Films’ upcoming ice hockey comedy GOON has been released, courtesy of GeekTyrant. The film is based on a book by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith, and it stars Seann William Scott as Doug Glatt, a bouncer who is recruited into an amateur ice hockey team for his skills at fighting.
Although initially hopeless at hockey, Doug grows to be a valuable player and is sought out by a better underdog team to protect their star player, LaFlamme (Marc Andre Grondin). Laflamme has lost his nerve following an altercation with brutal ‘goon’ Rhea (Liev Schreiber), and the team think that he needs a bodyguard to help kickstart his recovery. However, Rhea has plans of his own to take down the new kid.
Directed by Michael Dowse (TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT), the cast also features Jay Baruchel (FANBOYS) Kim Coates (SONS OF ANARCHY), Eugene Levy (AMERICAN REUNION) and Alison Pill (MILK). GOON does not have a confirmed release date yet, but is due sometime in 2012.
