Ryan Gosling Talks Logan’s Run Remake

It seems Ryan Gosling simply can’t put a foot wrong these days. With positive write ups of DRIVE and even CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE, it seems the Canadian actor has put the days of YOUNG HERCULES firmly behind him. In a recent interview with Flixist, Gosling spoke about his role in the remake of LOGAN’S RUN, which will be directed by DRIVE collaborator, Nicolas Winding Refn. Gosling claims the upcoming film will not be like the camp original from 1976.

‘It’s so different from our idea for LOGAN’S and we want to go back more to the book. Also, we have other ideas. And that film was shot in a mall in the 70s. I can’t see how it would influence us. I’ve been really enjoying the process of developing it. We’re focusing on that. We’re trying to create this world and make a movie we want to see, like we did with DRIVE’, he professes.

The book, published in 1967, centres around a future dystopian world that maintains a set population for the fair consumption of resources; anyone over a certain age is forced to die. The story follows Logan, a ‘Sandman’ who is charged with enforcing the rule. Logan tracks down and kills citizens who ‘run’ from society’s fatal command, only to end up ‘running’ himself.
