Jeremy Renner For King Of Heists Biopic

Jeremy Renner, Hollywood’s rising action star that can actually act, has landed a headlining role in KING OF HEISTS, an adaptation of J North Conway’s nonfiction book about ‘the sensational bank robbery of 1878 that shocked America’.

It seems Renner is really getting himself around these days with roles in the upcoming MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4, HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, THE AVENGERS and THE BOURNE LEGACY. KING OF HEISTS looks to be a particularly ambitious project in the actor’s future.

The book details the events surrounding what is deemed as the greatest bank robbery in American history. Thieves broke into the Manhattan Savings Institution and stole $3 million in cash, worth around $50 million today. Conway describes the events leading up to the robbery, how it was accomplished, and how the robbers were eventually caught. Renner will reportedly be portraying George Leonidas Leslie, the criminal mastermind behind it all that led him to receive the nickname ‘King of the bank robbers’.

Conway’s book is set to be scripted for the big screen by newcomer Will Staples. KING OF HEISTS is looking at a probable release of 2012/2013.
