Jackie Earle Haley Takes On Lincoln

WATCHMEN star Jackie Earle Haley is reportedly set to take a role the upcoming biopic, LINCOLN. The Steven Spielberg directed film will feature Haley as Alexander Stephens, vice president of the Confederate States during the American civil war. As Stephens, Haley will oppose the man himself, Abraham Lincoln, played by Daniel Day-Lewis (THERE WILL BE BLOOD). Stephens is best-known for a speech in which he stated that slavery was the ‘natural condition of blacks and the cornerstone of the Confederacy’.

The Dreamworks production will also star Mary Todd, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is set for a late 2012 release.
