Trailer for Cascarelli’s John Dies At The End

Writer, director and producer, Don Cascarelli, has earned a cult following for his array of entertaining B movies over the years. His last feature length offering, BUBBA HO-TEP (2005), starred Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis. It is a unique and charming experience that THN definitely recommends to any fans of ludicrous concepts.

JOHN DIES AT THE END is based on David Wong’s novel of the same name and is a comedy horror; a genre that Cascarelli’s name has become synonymous with. The synopsis is as follows:

Soy Sauce, as they call it on the street, is a drug that guarantees an out-of-body experience every time you use it. Users tend to drift through time and space, but even if they do return home, they aren’t necessarily human anymore. As the world becomes overrun by these users, John and David emerge as heroes; in a sense. They are college dropouts who can’t even sustain employment, but they will do their level best to save humanity. Will they do it? The title, and common sense, suggests that they probably won’t.

JOHN DIES AT THE END will be in American cinemas next year. Let’s hope it finds its way to the UK soon after; as the film is still in post-production, it does not have any official release dates as yet.
