Poster For Steven Spielberg’s War Horse Is Released

The first poster for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of WAR HORSE has been released and it echoes the novel’s cover. The film is set amongst the upheaval of war-torn Europe and England during the First World War. It charts the journey of a young man named Albert and his horse Joey, who Albert trains and tames. It follows their story as they are forced apart by Joey being sold to help the war effort and then Albert’s life as he’s sent to the front line shortly after. It takes us through the extraordinary experiences of the horse through the Great War.

Spielberg’s friend and producer Kathleen Kennedy saw the critically-acclaimed London stage production and wanted to move to the big screen, she bought him the book shortly afterwards and it was reported that he was instantly hooked and inspired.

The films stars David Thewlis, Emily Watson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Kebbell and Jeremy Irvine. It’s based on the book by Michael Morpurgo and is sure to be an epic and emotional tale due for release on December 28th 2011.
