TOY STORY 3 director Lee Unkrich is giving Pixar fans an exclusive look at his new animated project — from start to finish — over on his Tumblr blog. Think Fincher’s mouth-taped-shut for a family-friendly audience.
Announcing the blog via his Twitter, Unkrich wrote ‘Today is day one on my next project,’ Unkrich wrote on Twitter. ‘Every day I’ll post a new photo chronicling the journey.’
The first picture, captioned ‘The starting line’, shows a close up of a Mac keyboard and the very beginning of the Pixar feature. However, the second picture, a photograph of the writer/director’s lunch, suggests this won’t be the most riveting blog from the get-go. Follow Unkrich’s creative process here.
As yet, nothing is known about the project — no concept, title, or characters — but the pressure is certainly on. Unkrich’s TOY STORY 3 was the highest grossing movie of 2010 and became the third animated feature to earn a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards.
Pixar previously announced two new projects in the works. UP director Peter Docter is helming the ‘UNTITLED PIXAR PROJECT THAT YOU SEE INSIDE THE BRAIN’, and Bob Peterson is currently working on the ‘UNTITED PIXAR MOVIE ABOUT DINOSAURS’. The latter focuses on a world where an asteroid never hit the Earth and dinosaurs were able to continue evolving and eventually live alongside humans.
