It has been rumoured for sometime now but Universal has finally decided to move forward with the sequel to Timur Bekmambetov’s 2008 action-thriller WANTED. The film was based on Mark Millar and J. G. Jones comic-book series and the movie’s screenwriters Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have confirmed they have agreed a deal to pen the follow-up.
No word yet if Bekmambetov (NIGHT WATCH) will return to direct. Will James McAvoy will reprise the role of mild-mannered accountant turned superhuman assassin Wesley Gibson? Haas and Brandt have said their script will certainly focus on his character but the writers also have instigated that Angelina Jolie’s Fox will not be returning following her death in the original.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
