After auditioning for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in BATMAN BEGINS and unable to oust favourite Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy impressed Christopher Nolan enough for the director to cast him in the key role of The Scarecrow. Murphy’s character then reappeared for a minor cameo in THE DARK KNIGHT.
It now has be confirmed that Cillian Murphy will indeed be seen once again in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. The news comes after the actor was spotted by fans, filming a scene for the third outing for the rebooted Batman franchise.
It is unknown how big the role will be this time out, but it is great that Nolan sees the need to include quality actors in characters that may not be heavily featured to link his three features together.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
