Nora Ephron To Get ‘Lost In Austen’

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE and YOU’VE GOT MAIL writer/ director Nora Ephron is to helm a movie version of the ITV television mini-series LOST IN AUSTEN for Sony studios.

The original show, first aired in 2008, starred Jemima Rooper (THE BLACK DAHLIA) as unhappy Londoner Amanda Price who gets most joy reading through the pages of her favourite author, Jane Austen. Her world is turned upside down when she is magically transported from her modern day existence and into the plot of ‘Pride and Prejudice’. She appears as the character of Elizabeth Bennett with the real Elizabeth, played by Gemma Arterton (CLASH OF THE TITANS) taking her place in the real world.

The expectation is that the plot will change its location from London to New York. New James Bond and AMERICAN BEAUTY director Sam Mendes will serve as a producer.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
