Though the superhero season is officially over, barely a week goes by without some news from the sets of next year’s spandex-clad blockbusters. And now we have the most-anticipated trailer since Christian Bale offered Tom Hardy outside for a punch-up. Yes, it’s Marvel Studio’s THE AVENGERS, the ensemble piece they have been gearing up for ever since Robert Downey Jr stepped into the IRON MAN’s metallic threads back in 2008.
As we see in this trailer, Loki – the cheeky brother of Avengers member Thor – is bent on world domination (what supervillain isn’t?) and isn’t going to let a little team of superheroes going to stop him. And if rumours are to be belived, Loki might just have some help from some other villains from the Marvel Universe…
THE AVENGERS is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlet Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, and Samuel L. Jackson. It arrives in cinemas 4th May 2012.
