Rade Sherbedgia Signs Up To Be Villain In Taken 2

How many films where a man must save his wife and child will be made before certain consumers realise they have seen it all before? A seemingly infinite amount is the only plausible answer at present.

TAKEN was a huge success when it was released in 2008, and has led to a frenzy of films in a similar vein being made during subsequent years. TAKEN 2 begins filming next month, and will see Liam Neeson return to the role of Bryan Mills. Only this time… you guessed it… he is the one who is taken! Rade Sherbedgia (MIDDLE MEN, SNATCH) will portray the antagonist, Murad, in the sequel. He is the father of one of Mills’ victims from the first outing, who decides to grab a slice of redemption cake by kidnapping Mills and his wife. Mills’ daughter is enlisted in the battle to help save her folks from Murad and his myriad of henchmen.

Luc Besson is producing through his EuropaCorp banner, and has co-written the screenplay with Robert Mark Kamen. The two have collaborated on several projects, including TRANSPORTER 3 and TAKEN. Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace will star alongside Neeson and Sherbedgia, whilst Oliver Megaton (COLOMBIANA) will direct.

TAKEN 2 is unlikely to be released before 2013 in the UK.

Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.
