Newcomers Dan Trachtenberg (PORTAL: NO ESCAPE) and Dan Kunka (AGENT OX) have been signed up by Universal Pictures and will work with FAST 5 writer Chris Morgan, who will also produce the film under his Chris Morgan Productions company.
CRIME OF THE CENTURY is an original idea from the minds of Kunka and Trachtenberg and the only thing we know so far is that it will be a high-octane heist with a science fiction twist.
Trachtenberg recently rose to fame via YouTube with his 7-minute short PORTAL: NO ESCAPE that has hit nearly 7 million views. It features a woman who wakes in a room and doesn’t know who she is or how she got there. Have no fear though, the short isn’t something another take on the highly successful Bourne Trilogy, instead it plays with the never-ending boundaries of Science Fiction. 
We all remember how intriguing it was to watch Neill Blomkamp move onto the big screen with DISTRICT 9 and it’s also great to see the studios taking a few gambles on fresh talent. Below is the short that is well worth checking out and a possible clue to the look and feel of CRIME OF THE CENTURY:
