Wolverine or Hugh Jackman as he’s also known, has announced that he would ‘consider’ occupying the role of James Bond if Daniel Craig were to step down.
Although Jackman’s name was amongst others being tossed around the table for the role in the 2006 remake of CASINO ROYAL, he declined it. Jackman conceded that it wasn’t right for him at the time.
‘”I got a call from my agent saying, there is some possible interest in you for Bond, are you interested?’ At the time I wasn’t. I was about to shoot X-Men 2 and Wolverine had become this thing in my life and I didn’t want to be doing two such iconic characters at once.’ Hugh reminisced.
Some might call Jackman a fraidy-cat for declining the role back then, but has he finally changed his tune?
‘I think you’ve got to be scared as an actor and keep taking risks. It doesn’t always work out but it’s a healthy place to be.’
Perhaps this kitten has claws after all, but I’m not sure if Hugh has the charisma and charm accustomed to that of 007. I guess all we can do is speculate and wait and see.
