Zombietown: Ruben Fleischer’s Undead Comedy Hits The Small Screen

Twinkies at the ready – ZOMBIELAND is heading to a lounge near you.

Following 2009’s comedy-horror hit, starring Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) and Woody Harrelson (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN), Fox and Sony Pictures Television have started development on a half-hour show, due to hit screens next year.

A sequel to the original film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, was slated for a 2012/3 release, under the working title of ZOMBIELAND 2. Should Fox and SPT’s project see the light of day, however, it would replace any plans for further cinematic releases.

With the success of recent zombie show THE WALKING DEAD, it’s no surprise the networks have jumped on the ZOMBIELAND bandwagon. And with original screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick on board, things are looking promising for a true spin-off to the $75.6 million grossing film.
