Lana and Andy Wachowski, the sibling duo who brought us THE MATRIX, are returning to sci-fi for the first time since 2003. Their new project is titled JUPITER ASCENDING and an A-list star is in talks to play the lead role, but the star in question remains a mystery.
JUPITER ASCENDING is an original creation, unlike the pair’s previous cinematic release SPEED RACER, which received mixed reviews back in 2008. So far all we know is their latest project will star… someone, and is about… something. But hey, we have a title and the news that Wachowski’s are returning to their sci-fi roots which is exciting enough.
The Wachowski’s are currently filming their segment of CLOUD ATLAS alongside director Tom Tykwer (PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER), featuring an ensemble cast including Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Jim Broadbent, and Hugo Weaving.
