Bill Paxton To Take Tv’s Kung Fu To Big-Screen

Actor/director Bill Paxton is in talks to revive the popular seventies hit show KUNG-FU for the big-screen treatment. More famous for acting roles in ALIENS, TRUE LIES and current hit show BIG LOVE, Paxton’s directing début was the brilliantly effective thriller-with-a-twist FRAILTY.

KUNG-FU was the cult show that ran from 1972 -75 and made a star of KILL BILL’s David Carradine as shaven headed shaolin monk Caine, who wanders America on a quest to find his brother. The show was picked up again in the mid-ninties for a further four seasons, not forgetting a TV movie in 1986.

Following todays news that fellow television hit THE FALL GUY will also make the transition to the big screen it appears there is no let up of small-screen to cinema screen adaptations.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
