Aussie actor Joel Edgerton really should have been given a bigger crack than he has in Hollywood. Fans familiar with his work in the likes of the brilliant ANIMAL KINGDOM and ingenious thriller THE SQUARE know roles in this years WARRIOR and the upcoming prequel/remake THE THING are not flukes.
Having lost out to Jeremy Renner for the lead in Jason Bourne spin-off THE BOURNE LEGACY, Edgerton looks now to have caught the eye of the producers of prequel 300: BATTLE OF ARTEMESIA. Its appears he is in talks to take the lead as Themistocles, the general who lead the Greeks against the invading and marauding Persians in 480 b.c. Noah Murro (SMART PEOPLE) is set to helm the film that is based on Frank Miller’s 300 graphic novel follow-up, Xerxes.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
