Impressive Cast Gathering For Hollywood Remake Of French Hit Blood Ties

Jacques Maillot’s 2008 French thriller BLOOD TIES (aka RIVALS) is getting the Hollywood treatment along with a great cast of A-list talent. Guillaume Canet who actually headed the cast of the original, is set to make his English-language directing debut and has roped in his real-life partner Marion Cotillard, Mark Wahlberg and Zoe Saldana to star. Canet will adapt the screenplay with the help of James Gray (THE YARDS, WE OWN THE NIGHT).

BLOOD TIES was a seventies set film that told the story of two brothers on opposite sides of the law, one a cop and the another a convicted criminal recently released from prison. The twist in the tale was that the honest cop is looked down upon by the rest of his family while his pimp brother is the favourite.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
