Twilight Author’s Latest ‘The Host’ May Have One Of Its Male Leads

Stephenie Meyer’s TWILIGHT saga has been a box-office phenomenon that paid off big-time for the studio that bought the rights. The author is now in high demand with her latest novel, science-fiction thriller THE HOST, being snapped up for the big-screen treatment soon after its publication.

IN TIME’s Andrew Niccol is slated to direct with Saoirse Ronan taking the lead of Melanie Stryder but the male roles were unknown until now. It appears Ronan’s THE LOVELY BONES co-star Jake Abel has beaten off competition to land one of the two male leads. THE HOST tells the tale of Melanie Stryder and her battle with the alien race named ‘Souls’ that are able to easily inhabit a humans body, but her persistence to continually resist makes her unique amongst Earths growing victims.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
