With the departure of Eddie Murphy from the presenting role in the Oscars, it seems new on the scene producer Brian Grazer will have to find a suitable substitute.
U.S. Network ABC, after Murphy’s withdrawal from the gig are now giving some thought to a Facebook page advocating the inclusion of The Muppets as presenters for the future ceremony.
A funny idea, in fact I think it’s a great Idea. Nothing would please me more than seeing a pair of floppy velvet arms drop an Academy Award to the floor, but something seems fishy. Disney owns both ABC and the rights to The Muppets and with the upcoming Muppets feature is there a PR stunt afoot?
Even if there is some sort of PR stunt in mind here, allowing the furry goof-balls to host can only add a bit of spice to a potentially flavourless evening. THE MUPPETS 2011 is set for release on the 23rd November and with any luck we’ll encounter their buffoonery just a little sooner!
