Twilight Star Stewart Offered Akira Role

The TWILIGHT SAGA’s  Kristen Stewart is more than just a pretty face, she is also possibly the most miserable actress in Hollywood but that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. from offering her the role of Kei in the live-action AKIRA remake. It appears the studio has decided Stewart is the star they want to appear alongside TRON LEGACY’s Garrett Hedlund, who seems locked on for the lead of Keneda.

AKIRA will be directed by UNKNOWN’s Jaume Collet-Sera and will be based the 1988 cult Japanese animated Manga film. The plot follows the expolits of Keneda and his attempts to stop his former friend-turned psychopath Tetsuo after he became part of a secret government experiment. Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter are also in talks to star in the futuristic actioner.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
