Chris Evans Joins Mob Hitman Biopic The Iceman

It appears CAPTAIN AMERICA and FANTASIC FOUR’s Chris Evans is set to replace James Franco as the mentor to infamous Mafia contract killer Richard Kuklinski in a biopic based on the novel by Anthony Bruno. THE ICEMAN will tell the fact-based tale of Kuklinski and his secret rise as the top assassin for the New Jersey criminal underworld whilst masking his cold-blooded occupation by playing the devoted family man.

TAKE SHELTER’s Michael Shannon will head the cast as Kuklinski alongside Ray Liotta, Maggie Gyllenhaal and now Evans with THE ICEMAN being written and directed by Ariel Vromen. Chris Evans seems an interesting choice for mentor role considering he is 7 years younger than Michael Shannon but he will most likely be shown in flashback or the earlier-set scenes of a younger Kuklinski.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
