Steven Moffat Says Doctor Who Movie Isn’t Happening

Current DOCTOR WHO showrunner Steven Moffat has taken to Twitter to deny claims of a future movie adaptation. Last month saw David Yates — director of the Harry Potter franchise from ORDER OF THE PHOENIX onwards — stated he hoped to helm a Hollywood reboot. The filmmaker stated there is no script at present and he is hunting for writers. ‘We’re going to spend two or three years getting it right.’

Now head writer and showrunner Moffat has announced his frustration via Twitter:

Previously speaking to the press, Moffat has said ‘[DOCTOR WHO] is a vitally important brand with a huge international audience… which not even Hollywood can scratch. There simply are no developed plans for a DOCTOR WHO movie at the moment. If and when the movie happens it will need to star the television’s Doctor Who and there’s only one of those at a time.’
