The Saw Franchise Will Outlive Us All

Being dead hasn’t stopped Jigsaw spawning numerous sequels to the SAW franchise over the years, so it’s no surprise that SAW 8 may be stabbing us in the eyeballs in the future. After being killed off in SAW 3, Jigsaw was successfully revived a further 4 times due to box office success and a strong fanbase and Lionsgate Vice President Michael Burns is keen for the killer to torture from beyond the grave once more. Or twice more. It might never end.

‘I’m sure, some day, you’ll see SAW back in the picture,’ he told CNBC.

However, Ryan Turek of Shock Till You Drop has recently stated: ‘Last time I spoke to Twisted Pictures, they said they would not feel comfortable moving forward on another chapter unless they heard a pitch that blew their minds. A story that felt organic, and above all, smart.’

Hmm, SAW 3D was hardly the Casablanca of torture porn so something tells me they won’t be too fussy. I’m predicting SAW 8 for Halloween 2012 or 13, and then a new installment each year until it’s just Twisted Pictures and the cockroaches.
