Legendary Pictures Wants Ford For Baseball Biopic

This years MONEYBALL showed you don’t have understand or even show much of the actual game of baseball to make a fascinating and compelling feature surrounding the sport. Legendary Pictures has a new baseball biopic in the works entitled 42, and is being written and directed by Brian Helgeland (PAYBACK).

The film chronicles Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey and his fight against racial prejudice in the game, to sign the first black player, Jackie Robinson during 1947. Harrison Ford is the studios first choice to portray Branch Rickey and apparently the role  is his to turn down. No word yet who will or is wanted for the role of Robinson. Jackie Robinson’s widow Rachel is also involved with production.
