George Lucas Is Making Indiana Jones Five…Eventually

George Lucas has been yapping about the updates he has made to the fifth edition to the INDIANA JONES film series.

Lucas knows that he is going to make the film but has no idea when or more importantly what Jones’ will be searching for. The element to a film that drives the story forward, in this instance usually the relic, can be referred to as the MacGuffin element – a phrase coined by legendary director Alfred Hitchcock. Because Lucas hasn’t yet found his MacGuffin it’s only fair to assume he either has a half written script full of empty spaces or just a bunch of notes. Needless to say we might be waiting quite some time for another update from the series.

“I mean, I know what it’s about,” Lucas said, “but I just have to find a MacGuffin that fits into the arena we’re working in.”

As successful as Lucas is and as fun as the rest of the INDIANA JONES series has been, I still can’t help but think he really shouldn’t be releasing statements that make his approach to filmmaking sound somewhat slap-dash. In any case I’m sure like Dr Jones, Lucas will stumble upon the relic he requires and alas he will have found his MacGuffin.

With any luck we’ll be indulged with even more updates from Lucas about his progress very soon!
