Proyas’ Paradise Lost Epic Postponed

This was a project that was getting many excited, including me, but it now appears Alex Proyas’ angels-at-war epic PARADISE LOST’s production will be halted. The film was to be based on John Milton’s iconic poem that explained the idea of a war in heaven that eventually lead to Lucifer being banished to Hell. The film had already had its cast and crew in place with shooting scheduled to begin early next year in Australia but unfortunately will now be postponed. For how long is uncertain but considering the films finance is already over budget hopefully it will not be too long.

THE CROW and DARK CITY director Alex Proyas was to helm the project with lead Bradley Cooper set to take the reins as the evil Lucifer. Benjamin Walker (soon to be seen in Timur Bekmambetov’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER), Camilla Belle, Casey Affleck, Djimon Hounsou and Dominic Purcell were also set to feature. Whether this postponement threatens any of their involvement remains to be seen.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
