Saoirse Ronan Set To Join ‘How I Live Now’

HANNA and THE LOVELY BONES rising star Saoirse Ronan is to join the cast as the lead in HOW I LIVE NOW. The film will be based on the novel by Meg Rosoff and will be directed by THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND’s Kevin McDonald. Ronan is currently filming Neil Jordan’s vampire thriller BYZANTIUM with Gemma Arterton. The actress will also appear in the lead role of Stephenie Meyer’s adaptation of alien-invasion drama THE HOST, which is being written and directed by IN TIME’s Andrew Niccol.

The synopsis for HOW I LIVE NOW is as follows:-

Fifteen-year-old Daisy is sent from Manhattan to England to visit her aunt and cousins she’s never met: three boys near her age, and their little sister. Her aunt goes away on business soon after Daisy arrives. The next day bombs go off as London is attacked and occupied by an unnamed enemy.

As power fails, and systems fail, the farm becomes more isolated. Despite the war, it’s a kind of Eden, with no adults in charge and no rules, a place where Daisy’s uncanny bond with her cousins grows into something rare and extraordinary. But the war is everywhere, and Daisy and her cousins must lead each other into a world that is unknown in the scariest, most elemental way.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
