Filming Continues For Spielberg’s Lincoln

The Richmond region of Virginia, USA has had a fun few weeks. The capital has played host to the likes of Steven Spielberg,  Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field, with filming for the esteemed director’s new movie LINCOLN gracing its streets.

The townsfolk have been celebrity-spotting, or else complaining in the local rag about their failure to actually spot any celebrities, but the real story here is that filming is well underway for Spielberg’s new project.

The acclaimed director, whose latest work WAR HORSE is released January 2012, covered the usually not unkempt streets in dirt and cordoned off sections of the town for the shoot.

The film depicts the life of US President Abraham Lincoln, played by Daniel Day-Lewis (THERE WILL BE BLOOD), based on the novel ‘Team Of Rivals’ by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Tony Kushner adapted the screenplay, which focuses on Honest Abe’s clashes with his cabinet towards the end of the civil war.

LINCOLN is due for release in the fourth quarter of 2012, and has an all-star cast that includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jared Harris.
