Clive Owen Offered ‘OldBoy’ Villain

Spike Lee’s remake of Korean masterpiece OLDBOY has hit a few snags recently. Josh Brolin is an inspired choice for the lead in the revenge thriller about a man locked in a room for fifteen years until one day he is allowed to leave without explanation. Finding the villain on the other hand has been a bit more tricky with whispers of Christian Bale  and his acting intensity seeming perfect for the controversial tale since the project was first announced. Recently Colin Firth was officially offered  the role but ultimately chose to turn it down.

Now it appears Spike Lee will reunite with his INSIDE MAN star Clive Owen for the film, with the actor now in talks for the major villain. We have already heard the originals dark, disturbing ending will be even bleaker in this version. So will Brolin be eating octopus with Owen? Time will tell and confirmation will no doubt come in the next few days

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
