GHOSTBUSTERS and THE BLUES BROTHERS star Dan Aykroyd has joined the cast of DOG FIGHT, a comedy about two rival South Carolina politicians competing for an open seat in a small congressional district.
The Jay Roach-directed movie is currently shooting in New Orleans and boasts a cast of funnymen, including Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and Jason Sudeikis.
Aykroyd is expected to feel very much at home on set. He will be no stranger to the southern accent. If his brilliant performance as Jessica Tandy’s son in DRIVING MISS DAISY was not proof enough, he recently starred next to current co-star Ferrell in Funny or Die’s PRESIDENTIAL REUNION sketch. New Orleans is also well-known territory. The actor and writer is the owner of the House of Blues restaurant chain and took part in the clean-up after Hurricane Katrina.
DOG FIGHT includes other big names. Sarah Baker and Katherine LaNasa will play the candidates’ wives, while the cast includes John Lithgow, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, Josh Lawson, Gary Grubbs and P.J Byrne and is due to be released next August.
