Paranormal Activity 4 Confirmed For Release

Film studio Paramount Pictures doesn’t know the meaning of ‘recession’ – releasing sixteen films in 2011, from TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, the company grossed over $5 billion.

One of those big hits was the sequel PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3, which earned around $ 200 million on a $ 5 million budget – so it’s no surprise that a fourth installment should be confirmed for 2012.

In an official press release, Paramount spoke of their main releases for the coming year, noting Brad Pitt’s WORLD WAR Z, new Sacha Baron Cohen film THE DICTATOR, and sequels PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 and GI JOE: RETALIATION.

Of course, just because sequels earn money, this doesn’t necessarily mean they’re any good. 2012 would certainly be better off without another GI JOE film on the horizon. As for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4… the previous films were a bit like Marmite. You either love them, or hate them.

Don’t expect this four-quel to shake things up, though – if the first two sequels were anything to go by, this won’t change your opinion on the franchise.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 is due for release in 2012.
