World War ZZZ: Brad Pitt’s Latest Will Be A Trilogy

Brad Pitt’s upcoming sci-fi thriller WORLD WAR Z is supposedly being planned as a trilogy by Paramount Pictures and director Marc Forster.

According to an LA Times interview with the esteemed star of recent film MONEYBALL and cult Tarantino epic INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, Pitt’s new zombie flick will have at least two sequels in the coming years.

The movie, which has been stated to be the most expensive zombie film in the history of Hollywood, sees Pitt play a United Nations fact finder who races to find the source of a zombie pandemic.

Forster, director of most recent 007 outing QUANTUM OF SOLACE and 2004’s Johnny Depp-starrer FINDING NEVERLAND, sees WORLD WAR Z as ‘a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Damon’s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD.’

WORLD WAR Z is based on the book of the same name, written by Max Brooks in the form of a collection of individual accounts of the zombie apocalypse. As these are told in first-person anecdotes, Forster has had to mix things up a bit for the film – hence Pitt’s role scouring the globe, interviewing survivors of the affectionately titled apocalypse, World War Z.

WORLD WAR Z hits cinemas just before Christmas, and stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos and Lucy Aharish.
