In cinematic terms, this is surely one of 2012’s biggest questions: can Jeremy Renner lead the Bourne franchise into a new era? Due to success and popularity of the previous films – with Matt Damon in the titular role – the pressure is on, and fans are wondering if Renner, playing new leading character Aaron Cross, can fill Bourne’s shoes and make the franchise his own. If upcoming four-quel THE BOURNE LEGACY proves to be a hit, it’s possible that the Bourne could be subject to a facelift every few years, much like the James Bond series.
So what do we think? Is Renner the Bourne series’ George Lazenby or Daniel Craig?
Fortunately for Renner (and everyone else for that matter), director of LEGACY and writer of all previous Bourne films, Tony Gilroy, is on board, which is good news all round.There’s also no mistaking that Renner’s got the intensity and action credentials.

What an utterly asinine and poorly researched article. Jeremy Renner is *not* playing Jason Bourne. He is playing a completely new character named Aaron Cross. Please spend five minutes researching a topic before publishing an erroneous news article about it.
Fans are *not* “wondering if Renner can fill Bourne’s shoes since Renner isn’t playing Jason Bourne. Fans are *not* wondering if Renner can “make the character his own” since, again, Renner isn’t playing Jason Bourne.
The image is *not* of Renner as Jason Bourne, but as the new character Aaron Cross. You would know this by doing a simple Google search.
