Kiefer Sutherland Reveals 24 Movie Details

A feature film involving Kiefer Sutherland’s hero (and government sanctioned torturer) Jack Bauer, has long been in the pipeline. Action director Tony Scott was even confirmed at one point, but that now appears not to be the case. However, Sutherland has hinted that we can expect shooting to begin on the big-screen adaptation of 24, ‘at the end of April, beginning of May’.

Speaking to journalists at the Television Critics Association winter tour, Sutherland went on the say that the film will be a ‘relatively a direct continuation. We’re talking maybe six months from the end of that (final) episode’.

24 ran for eight seasons between 2001 and 2010. The premise of the hit show was that each one hour episode would reflect one hour in real-time. Each season ran for 24 episodes, which ‘naturally made up one day, hence the shows title. This makes a 2 hour movie based on the show a touch tricky,  but we are promised that the final running time will be set in one 24 hour time frame. Actress  Mary Lynn Rajskub will also return as Chloe.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
