A Team Sequel Not Happening But Narc 2 A Possiblity

Joe Carnahan, while promoting his survival thriller THE GREY, has confirmed that a sequel to his dumb-but-fun A TEAM movie will not be happening. This is not surprising considering the film barely made it’s budget back at the box office. However, Carnahan stated his desire to re-team with Ray Liotta for a follow-up to his outstanding 2002 hit thriller NARC. The director, who also re-teams with A TEAM actor Liam Neeson for his latest, commented:-

As much fun as I had making that movie, I don’t want to get tied up in that whole world of sequels and franchises. There’s too many movies I want to make. There’s too many other stories I want to tell. The good thing that came out of A-Team not being successful is that I would never have made The Grey, I’d be working on A-Team 2 right now. And that would have been a bigger bummer to me.

I was talking to Ray Liotta the other night about a Narc sequel. I told him the opening…if I could do that movie for like ten million bucks and not be bothered and be left to do my thing I would do it in a second. Creative control means more to me than having my name on a big-budget thing.

Fans of Carnahan should get in line for THE GREY when the film is released 27th January 2012. The film co-stars Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo and James Badge Dale.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
