Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton’s Hansel and Gretel will hunt witches much later

Paramount have pushed back HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS by a whole year in a bid to boost it’s international status.

The action comedy, that picks up on the original fairy story 15 years later with Hansel and Gretel becoming bounty hunters tracking and killing witches, will not be released until January 2013.

A Paramount studio executive pin pointed the reason behind the pushback, ”Jeremy Renner’s international profile should be in great shape after being in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4 now, then THE AVENGERS in May, then THE BOURNE LEGACYin August. As this past weekend shows, January is great play time internationally, and we haven’t done too bad domestically in January, either.”

The 3D movie stars Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen and Peter Stromare and is directed by Tommy Wirkola.
