Rob Marshall To Go ‘Into The Woods’

Rob Marshall has made a career choreographing world famous stage musicals, as well as adapting the likes of CHIGAGO and NINE for the big-screen. Now it appears the director, whose last film was PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, will helm INTO THE WOODS.

Based on Stephen Sondheim’s hit musical, INTO THE WOODS features a number of iconic fairytale characters that become involved in the story of a baker and his wife’s plans to start a family. Sondheim has previously seen his stage hit SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET, adapted for the big-screen by Tim Burton. The new film version of INTO THE WOODS is expected to feature brand new songs especially written by Sondheim for the feature.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
