Quentin Tarantino buys his own cinema!

Not content with being one of the best filmmakers working in Hollywood today, and perhaps being one of the most influential writers and directors of the last 50 years, Quentin Tarantino has gone one step further and purchased his very own cinema. Tarantino snapped up the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles recently after it fell on hard times. Rumour was that it was to be turned into a Super Cuts.  The Pulp Fiction witer/ director was paying the theater’s $5,000 rent every month, but know he seems to have bought the place outright.

“I’d been coming to the New Beverly ever since I was old enough to drive there from the South Bay — since about 1982,” Tarantino says. “So, I couldn’t let that happen. I always considered the New Beverly my charity — an investment I never wanted back. I already had a good relationship with the family and the theater, so it was a natural step.”

Tarantino will apparently keep things running with existing staff, although he will make booking suggestions from time to time — the cinema shows cult and classic film and was the venue for his Inglourious Basterds DVD premiere.
