His recent Golden Globe win for his role in television hit LUTHER has certainly helped Idris Elba’s acting profile rise even further. Speaking to MTV, the British star has confirmed his involvement in Marvel’s THOR 2. Originally set to be directed by MONSTER’s Patty Jenkins, GAME OF THRONES’ Alan Taylor is now set to helm. Elba, who appeared as Heimdall – protector of the gates of Asgard, responded when asked if he would return in the sequel, by saying:
‘Thor 2 for sure, We’re going at it again.’
Elba’s big break in Hollywood came from the acclaimed HBO cop series THE WIRE. This year will see him appear in GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE and Ridley Scott’s sci-fi ALIEN prequel PROMETHEUS. He is currently shooting Guillermo Del Toro’s much anticipated monster epic PACIFIC RIM, which is due to be released next year.
